Monster Island Bulletin Board

Moderated by Greg McDougal it was operational between 1998 and 2001 before being swamped by ads and closed down. I have rescued as much as is available from the Wayback Machine.

< | Index | >

IT IS WITH GREAT SADNESS THAT I ANNOUNCE THE CLOSING OF THIS BOARD. THE REASONS ARE TWOFOLD, I HAVE NOT SUBMITTED A TURN FOR SOME MONTHS NOW, AND THE LEVEL OF SPAM ON IT HAS REACHED UNMANAGEABLE LEVELS. I SUGGEST YOU USE THE ABM BOARD - NO LINK SUPPLIED, IF DON'T KNOW WHERE IT IS, ASK AN IN-GAME CONTACT.

With much gratitude to Greg for his work over the years, and absolutely no disrespect intended...

Maybe its time for this board to go down for good. It gets little traffic anymore, and the fact that its 80% ads even cuts that down further. I check this board _very_ rarely now, knowing that all I'm going to get are those ads...

We could shoehorn people to the AbM BBoard, or the mailing list (which is also on the lame side these days, I admit) instead.

Just a consideration,
Mark O'

Have all the old ways been CORRUPTED? Have ADVERTS taken over the sacred Monster Island temples? Its worse than a handful of flavorless FLAX plants. Its worse than a SNEAKY CAVE LEAPER in your Haversuit. Monster Island is not a POP BAND and it is not a PLEASURE RESORT. It is a BLOODY KILLING FIELD for the cause of long-since vanished except from time to time Gods and Demi-Gods, and Jossmen who seem to think this place is somehow GOOD BUSINESS, and Wizards who seem to enjoy watching the LITTLE MONSTERS fight at the base of their Towers.
We must remember the GOLDEN AGE, before old monsters had to drink their toady stew through STRAWS! Return now to the old ways, before it is too late!

Just an update on the Shroud Revival that is about to occur in the US game.

1. We will be forming two separate Shroud Groups, and eliminating several Groups from the game (Antikabukilear Forces; Dark Knights of the Kunbar; Death, Inc.). One Group will be mavericks, newbies and Monsters not yet ready for the Zargnoth. The other will be older, more powerful, organized and able to match the leading Kabukian and Fuvite Groups (Tower Building, Demigod Quests, etc.).

There are plenty of inactive Monsters available to adopt -- OR we could replicate your UK Monster in the US game! Keith has done it before, he can do it again.

Good gaming!

The reason for the Ads:
First off, Greg allows this BBS to be open. He has stated in the past that he is reluctant to change the public nature.

Secondly, there are search meathods which will return a link to this board. Some advertisers use these methods to try to cast their net as wide as they can. Of course, posting here and elsewhere is cheap advertising. Needless to say, we get what they pay for. Much of the tripe offer here is not even worth following a link.

So, until Greg can get back here and remove the garbage, we will have to live with it.

Tim Boyer <tboyer@icfconsulting.com>

That should be 'play' in the American game, not 'pay'. What an unfortunate typo...
Mark O' <Email address not supplied>
No town/city, No county/state, No country - 23:30:07 Thursday 15 February 2001
This is a recruitment drive...

In the American game, there is at the the moment a concerted drive being made to start a new Shroud group (since the US game pretty much lacks _any_ Shroud group) out of existing and adopted monsters. If you're interested in paying in the American game (hey, with Email you can hit both continents!) and would like to adopt a Shroudie and help in the building phase of a new group, come visit!

We're using a mailing list for communication. To join, go to:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/shroud
and click on the join-this-group link in the upper right. Its open to all at this point, but once this thing gets going I imagine we'll kick out those who didn't join and use it for the group itself.

Someone there should be able to answer any and all questions that you might have.

Thanks,
Mark O'English

Welcome Mastema.
I'm US too, so I can't help you either. If you could get your monster across the Pond, we'd snap you right up...

In any case, more general advice- there's three major gods out there- find out about all three, pick one, and follow it ASAP. Which one you follow will affect what groups you can join, though.
Quest for knowledge like crazy every turn. Maybe even twice a turn for the first twenty turns, in as many different places and terrain types as possible. This'll get you up to snuff on everything in no time (I use 28 AP Quests for max. efficiency).
Start moving east! if you start to feel you're in danger of dying, you can slow down, but don't worry about it otherwise. With the way this game is set up, you can get yourself into the Z in no time and become a much stronger monster there. Its _hard_ to die in this game from any causes other than player monsters and Rock Trolls (which are hidden in Mine Shafts and only in the Zargnoth area). You'll get much better arms and equipment further east anyway...

Ask questions! Read the boards here (not much action) and for the US game (lots more action). The two games are very close to identical, so anything you learn from that board outside of group and monster names probably applies in the Brit game also.

Have fun, and best of luck finding that perfect group.

I hope for your sake that you get the help you need. Unfortunately this forum has been taken over by every advertising agency in the world, so actual Monster Island content sometimes gets lost in the shuffle.

While I only run US monsters, I'd be happy help any way I can.

Your participation will help us continue to help poor Ruks buy better kit. ( I suppose you can't Buy the very best though, unless its from another player, and even then often times it is a big item slot so they couldn't carry an extra of that item to trade if they are currently equipping one.)

Hi,

Yes, OSI was in the southern Zargnoth region some time ago.
HE located the Shroudie temple and decided to do some Temple
hopping instead. For those who rebuilt and sanctified the
Temple THANKS. But don't be shy...

Osi will be soon back, not sure HOW, maybe by teleport or maybe
paying, but OSI is REALLY sure that Zargnoth is the region where
he will be in the near future.

Anybody willing to help out making the first Tower ready!??

LADY EETA-LOT
BRAVE SIR ROBIN
FINN PO NOET
UTHER MAC ADDER
KURGEN
OSIDIRADADUMPF

There were a few more around I think, cant remember who and didnt see them all. There were also a few BC monsters about.

Yes that's what I thought too bad xfer only works for items.

Well what about a Bear Trap for pummel bears and that sort of thing.

Besides which it would be fun. who wants a measly snake or bird anyway? And just the size alone would put the fear of god into any one whingeing. Plus if you are ever hungry, just kill it and, presto youve got enough food for a joss village, or a hungry fatblob.

if the creature is in a Trap such as a three-headed rattler do both monsters need a Trap of that sort

I understand that this bulletin board is for those that live in the U.K. I just thought that those of you that have family, friends and business associates here in the United States that call you, might be interested in an unbelievably affordable way to call you in the U.K. 24 hrs. / 7 days a week for only 7 cents per minute in 6 second billing, with NO monthly fees.

If they pay their bill with a credit card they can call you for only 6 cents per minute.

That's right U.S. to U.K. for less than calling around here!

I hope this helps many of you.

'Why are all these idiots coming on here from AOL?'

AOL is the opiate of the masses. All those who just barely find the 'ON' switch automatically click on the prettiest icon on their desktop: 'Let AOL steal $ 25 a month from you for the rest of your life.' Naturally, these idiots do this and are thus set loose to disrupt perfectly good forums.

So, what ever happened to Monster Island in the UK? Are there _any_ players in the UK who actually read this board?

Hooray for ABMKeith. I would love to see some action in KJC.
Something like that 2 for 1 offer would be great for starters

A question for you long lasting UK players: Isn´t there
so little activity now in MI right now? I played it a few
years ago and then people were battling to get there message
in the MIAB. Nowadays the only thing you see is the effort
of Vlad Zin and MLF (keeping the game alive :-)).

Hello All;
As Keith mentioned below (after the adverts), I am one of those Coordinators who help place inactive Monsters in the hands of those who would like to play more for the same amount of cash.
There are over 150 monsters that are available.
Join the ranks of Greg McDougal and Adrian Russell: UK players who own and run US monsters. Email Keith and he will set up players in Europe (and elsewhere) with accounts.
At that point, I can assist in placing some Adoptees into your account.

Hello All!

Keith here.. the US Monster Island GM. Just thought i'd check in and see how everyone was doing, if they were enjoying all the new stuff on the island and to see if anyone had any questions or suggestions.

I don't get here much any more, but if there is a player interest in me posting here, i'd be more than happy to pop in and post what i can about the 'going's on' on Monster Island and what everyone can expect soon.

Things have been moving forward. A lot is going on in US game. I have also instituted a special promotion for my players where they can earn 2 free turns for every paid turn they run. These free turns can be applied to an adopted monster that they can get either by starting an all new monster or by contacting 1 of two players in the US game in charge of the Adoption List. So far we've given out close to 70 older, inactive monsters to new parents and gotten those slackers running all over the island again. The idea of the 2 for 1 deal just came to me a few weeks ago when i realized just how much the players loved the game and wanted to play more monsters. But it isn't as easy for everyone to pay for more than 1, so as long you can pay for one, you can earn some freebies and grab an extra traveling companion.
It would be nice to see KJC try something like this because i'm sure there are tons of inactive UK monsters just sitting around getting fat, sleeping under coco palm trees.
With email turns, you lose nothing other than sore fingers from typing in a few extra turns a day. The players here love this idea and have taken to it wholeheartedly.
Well, my bowling season starts tonight so i have to run along. I have to check my email before i head for the day.

Best,
-Keith

Looking for a used (preferably in decent condition) War Wagon of the Abra Koli.
This artifact of destruction was designed long ago by a lost race. When lashed to your faithful plodder this chariot of doom will first enable you to target at range then crush your enemies under your mount's hooves,

where they can easily find your feet to whimper for mercy.
Just the spot to sacrifice them to your God of choice!

The War Wagon comes complete with turreted leech cannon and spiked wheel guard.
You may carry only one.

I did a search for myself and found I had a long-lost family! Here is what they say:

Farty Carbunkle and the New Twisted Riddlers are a group of six highly seasoned musicians that specialize in playing the best in Rock n’ Roll. Based out of Logansport, Indiana, they thrive on keeping up with the current trends of Rock and Alternative Rock as well as performing some of the classics from the 60’s, 70’s, & 80’s. If you or your organization have any occasion requiring excellent rock n’ roll, the New Twisted Riddlers are available to accommodate your needs. If you’re out for a night of entertainment and have the opportunity, just remember: DON’T MISS THIS Rock ‘n Roll Band ! You will not be sorry.

Hey, check out new Lavodorian Pearl Poison (see blurb). To make this nasty unguent simply combine sixteen scorpoison, three acorn hearts, twelve bloated onions, one jalapeno pepper, and the Black Pearl of Lavodor (see blurb), in a large cauldron. Over a medium flame, heat until boiling, stirring gently the while. After cooling, carefully apply the stuff to gauntlet spikes for a lovely bit of damage. In case of accidental ingestion induce vomiting immediately.
This costs the meagre 710 action points as well as an additional eleven spell points to prevent the smell of the brew from attracting stray vipers.
To get a Black Pearl simply proceed through the Lavodorian Castle and slay sufficient Lavodorian Guards to make your bloody way to the throne room. If you've badness enough you'll be granted audience with the Queen. So repulsed by your odiousness she shall produce the rare gem from her armoured bosom and present you with it. cheers

Some of you have probably received a recent email from Madhouse regarding their 'DungeonWorld' PBEM.

In the email they claim that 'your information is not stored on a database or anywhere else'.

The problem is that they included dozens of email addresses in the CC line!

These clowns can not even protect email addresses by placing them in the BCC line!

If you are as ####ed as I am about this, send them an email back and complain.

Thanks for your time,

Also, thought I might add a little warning to users of the board. I've been getting spam to my webmaster account recently. Long Time Lurker, First Time Poster...

Now that there are both demigods and demigod followers (at least in the US game), I think it's time we decided what to call them...

Y'know, like we have Shroudians & Shroudovians, Fuvites, Kabukians, Darkies, Flower-Sniffers, and so on.

What should we call the followers of Kadar and Yasmin? I'm leaning toward 'Kadarists' or 'Kadarees', and I really like 'Yasminsters' (rhymes with 'spinster', which is one way to describe Yasmin).

Thoughts?

I'm thinking of writing a story for MIAB (which will please Kim). It will be purely fictional but based on the characters and groups on the Island. However, I need info. such as Names and Races plus any other info. such as attitudes and affiliations. I do NOT want stats or monster numbers, this is not a fact finding mission for BC. If I don't receive any info. I will go with what I know. Therefor the story will very one sided.

That way the people living there will become homeless, and hopefully homesless people living on a parking lot won't have easy access to the Internet, and we won't get any more of those stupid adverts or whatever.

Yeah, they sound a bit strange, like that Howard Stern monster though, sound slike a nice chap. Oh, and I would guess you could pick up some nice food from an Elephant, but who would want to keep one around and hear it sing? Didn't know they could sing, must be because i clubber anytihng that gets near me. One thing that puzzles me though, how do you know that you are meeting an Elephant f it is undercover?

Did you know that howard stern steals what he does from a number of different persons? It's true! He has no talent of his own none! The title of that half-ass film those dripping little ####s made a few years back was stolen from a great 1976 release by a true original,Paul Bartel. And did you know that if stern opens his fat mouth and speaks regarding one of the most vile and corrupt abuses of so-called power that his insignificient ass will be in big troublw? Do not be fooled my friends, stern is as phony as they come! Thanks for reading this!!!!!!!

Hi All:
Have you heard any music from the Band, Undercover Elephant ?. Well you should..Amazing. I just recently purchased a CD Gotta Be from them and all I can say it's the best sound I have heard in years. They are going to be massive.
I posted notices on Bulletin boards about them and got so many replies back that i have now decided to establish a club for Undercover Elephant fans and those that want info. I wrote to their record company, Dinoroar records and told them I was establishing a club. They were so enthusiastic that they invited me down to meet Undercover Elephant
( Crazy Lads, Mad Brits ), gave me loads of freebies for mysels and to give away. And because they want to keep the undercover elephant club free, they gave me the money to set it up and keep it running.
If you wish to join the Undercover Elephant club for free and receive freebies:-free passes, CDs, etc. Contact me at GCOOP716@aol.com. Undercover Elephant's music can be heard at www.merlinweb.net/dinoroar.

Ah, I almost started to like you seeing as you had killed a Fattie. Now however I see no other option than to kill you, just like I killed the leader of one of the oldest Shroud groups.

So tell my little Darkie, what makes you think that you are worthy of getting killed by me? Tell you what, since you killed a Fattie I will give you the honour of dying by my hands.

Tell you what, bring along a couple of your friends....... Friends? What am i thinking, a low life nobody like yourself doesn't have friends. So bring along a couple of those you travel with and I might work up a sweat, having to chase you around that is. So run along little nobody and I might spare yoru life.

I never said you were wrong, Fuvah has indeed become the most powerfull God because the other 2 were too stupid to deal with Fuvah as they are beating each other up and now it may too late!! I think this was originally why demi gods were meant for the Kabukians and Shroudians and not Fuvites. K and S back the Demis to keep Fuvah busy while they rebuild etc....
No name given <Email address not supplied>
No town/city, No county/state, No country - 19:51:20 Sunday 20 February 2000
If Fuvah is truly just a Demi God then how come his followers can rebuild temples, can gain the same spells as everyone else, and he has more followers than Kabuki and Shroud, put together.

Kabuki and Shroud are sluggin it out with each other, but does not dare confront Fuvah or challenge him as they know he would destroy them, so they leave him alone.

Also Fuvah was the God that destroyed the Demigods and had them dispelled from this world back during the Demigod wars, or so the story goes......

Fuvah is a demi god.

That much is obvious, the history of Fuvahs being is as a direct result of the conflict between Kabuki and Shroud (shadows are created by the interaction between dark and light). This is why Fuvah is really ####ed with the other demi's - he does not want them to become as powerfull as him. Fuvah is really just a Demi who stole powers from Kabuki and Shroud, they are too busy fighting each other to notice...or so the story goes...

Sounds like a set up for a good commercial, Richard, so here goes. To date, we have added the following:

Underwater Grotto,
Tower Cellar,
Collapsed Vault,
Small Quarry,
Large Quarry,
Mine Shaft,
Rock Trolls,
Bridge Trolls,
King Ock Groves,
Updated Hillocks,
Refilled Loggerhead Camps,
Fiddled with Kongo-Mongo Trees,
Over 200 New Items,
Nearly 200 New Creatures,
New Spells and Voodoo,
Revised the Temple routines ,
Added two of the four planned Demi-Gods,
Major revision of the Zargnoth including new creatures on the map,
Nearly Finished Towers (maybe another week or two),
Currently preparing new religious ranks,
Currently working on increasing inventory capacity,
Preparing the groundwork for the two remaining Demi-Gods,
Currently Planning a new Region, and
Routinely fixing bugs when alerted to them.

Whew. All in all we've more than doubled the total amount of code for MI with some aspects once comfortably contained in a single module now requiring FOUR.

He is? funny, i didn't believe the Demi Gods would be more powerful that the 'real' Gods, but it does look like it if Fuvah is a Demi. Then again, who can take a coward who doesn't dare put a name with his comments serious? Whcih God do you follow+ The Great Jelly, known to most as He With No Spine? Must be a Fattie.

To all,

Greetings! Many of the older players will remember me , but for those that don't I set up BC and ran Titus for the first seven years of his (psychopathic) existence.

I have been playing DW for the last year, and consequently have unholy commitments in this game - but am considering dropping this as I need the time to program my own PBMs.

I am considering starting MI again (for some light entertainment) to give me my PBM fix through these projects, and what I want to know is...what happened?!

What is going on in MI these days? Do BC still rule The Island? Did they crush The Dark? Has any new stuff been introduced? Did The Light/Dark manage to build their Zargnoth Temples? Is it *worth* starting again?

Any information appreciated!

Actually, I'm not sure a godless monster could follow any of the two Demis in the game now without help once he gets into the Z, at least not without doing most of the stuff before you get there.

At the very least, no Reptron Birds are in the Z, and it seems you need them for both of the known Demis.

Sorry to hear you'd follow Fuvah. Fuvah's a great god for those who don't want to take any position (Fuvah, the god of standing on the sidelines and taking potshots). I'm hoping they don't make any 'neutral', i.e. 'no one can profit from killing me and I can profit from killing everyone else' demi-gods. Fuvah _is_ a demi-god...

Now that I've anonymously blasted 65% of the island monsters, I'll fade away.

There are Lanterns in the game for those who don't have Torchlight...

Yes, indeed there are, but they do not lie under every second rock, so it is not something I would count on finding the first 200 turns, especially not if you don't have Torchlight and have to run around finding torches every time you want to raid some Dark place. Also I would think it quite impossible to complete a Vault if you do not follow a God. And you would have to count on being able to follow a Demi in the Zarg if you are so foolish to jump there, and that he will give you some means to get back, or you will only be able to get those services on the few Inns visited before making the jump, and then those available on the Far Towns. So i for one would start following Fuvah right away if I was a newbie.

Hiya Newbie:
Check out Pureblade's MI links page: http://home.sol.no/~malie/MICentral/index.html

Its got a ton of links, and you can pick and choose from what's out there. I seem to recall some good hints for newbies on Uncle Vlad's pages, and there's lots of useful data on the Fire Rider pages.

If you want advice, _don't_ join a group until you find the one you're sure you want, but _do_ pick which of the three gods you want to follow and start following it ASAP. Yes, you could now follow a Demi instead, but no one has yet followed a Demi without also following a God, so we're not sure what the results will be...

The Temple was number 460. As Thelma was an adopted and 'morphed' monster in the US game I suppose it is possible that her last incarnation visited that temple. Are there any other possibilities - creatures killed, structures attacked?

Also, are any US players having problems with corrupted battle reports on email turns?

not the one that wanted control of zargnoth. It makes
little diffrence to me who can teleport and who carn`t.
The only time it`ll become really important is if temples
can be destroyed. Then teleporting will be the ultimate

of course. anyway you go build your temple i`ll contiune to explore

The reason Richard quit did have something to do with the new updates added to the program, which basically undid all his threats and political wrangling. But the main reason was that he found another PBM called Dungeon which he considered to be more interesting than MI.

I'll do my best to play Titus as he would have played him to keep thing interesting. However, I don't have anything like the time to spend on MI as he did (he literally spent every waking hour on it) so lukily for you guys BC probably wont be as militant as they used to be.

Let's face it, it's only a game.

As for these new temples then i actually think they are great. Once they have all been rebuilt then it won't take monsters forever to travel up to the one in the middle to visit this, and a Ghost won't have to spend even longer because he can't buy a journey up there.

Now if someone could rebuild the one in the South it would be appreciated :o)

BC could stop the SSS from rebuilding the old ruin if they choose to do so.. just kill all the darkies there and LV the ruin to make sure it needs loads of act pts to rebuild it. that would certainly make it hard for a rebuild but i think BC are probably to busy or got other things to do.
lets face it the new stuff is great!

richard quit because he didn`t like the new stuff being put in.. makeing it a unfair powershift with new stuff arriveing, although i could be wrong about that so don`t quote me! although i`m sure a BC member will tell us why he

I think you should apologise. No one can stop a sanctification so there was no reason to go running to KJC, you just didn't want to risk getting killed. You are the pathetic one. BC were extremely annoying but actually quite irrelevant so your complaints were totally unjustified. If you read the section towards the end of the MI rule book there is an apt description of how a group could be played, the desciption is rather similar to the reality of BC as run by Richard.

get it right it`s BC that want control of zargnoth and
just so you know there is/was a bug that meant another

a Ghost of the correct relgion will actually join in...
so a ghost of the wrong relgion wouldn`t effect a temple

I think YOU are pathetic. Anyone who tries to subjugate a third of the island with lies and threats and then has his plans thwarted because they believed him and complained to KJC and subsequently leaves the game because of it, is truly pathetic indeed.

He sounds like a child who has thrown teddy because he couldn't get is own way. Are you the same?

I thought the letter he sent to me as the of a shroud group was not even worth replying to. I tried to tell the others that his threats of teleporting monsters were empty, but they obviously thought it a real.

Besides, having only one temple ruins available that cannot be sanctified because an enemy god follower is present is a bit silly. If the boot was on the other foot, I'm sure you would complain. Yes shroudian monsters should have acted sooner, but that shouldn't mean that other, newer monsters should suffer as well.

Hey, I've just had a thought about the vault!

I know for a fact that there are vaults under two different structures. Now there's no reason why there can't be more places that have vaults (such as forts). I don't think that Midg was misleading us, I think that he was just ignorant to the fact that vaults can be found under towers as well! So I reckon vaults can be found under tower AND fort ruins as well as the third place (which I'm not gonna tell anyone about!). How many vaults are there??? Who knows? There could be vaults under every structure in the game?!

As for getting that stats thingie for groups and monsters to print in the newsletter then I'm afraid this will be impossible. The last time the Editor was sent this there was a lot of people complaining to KJC about it (myself included), so KJC have decided not to do this again.

I would love to do such a thing in the MIAB, but I can't hardly argue that I should get this print out since I was complaining about it myself. If you want to see it in MIAB there is only one thing to do, write to KJC and tell them they should send me a copy. If I get a copy I will bring an article about it.

Jack had said a lot of things in the past that were unreliable. I think I have in the past wronfully accused Keith of saying these, but I think he was just the messenger.

He had said that the region beyond the Crystal hills had been written and just needed implementing. Of course this turned out to be utter rubbish. He also said that demigods existed but it was so hard to become a follower that it would be impossible. If this were true, then one of the programmers would have had little difficulty in developing them.

Of course this is all just speculation and I'd be interested to hear what the yankie programmers have to say. I don't know why Jack lied to us, but I guess it was to keep us interested in the game. Either that or he was trying to cover up the fact that no work was going on in the game. I would certainly like to know what was going on during this period in the game.

I suggest that we ignore what people have said in the past and concentrate on what the programmers are saying now. They seem reliable enough.

Incedentally, does anyone know what happened to Jack? Did Keith and the programmers chuck him into a pit of hungry Rockadiles or what?

According to Jack, demi-gods were implemented a copla years ago...
It was only hard to find a way to become a follower he said. He wouldn't tell where the altar stones could be found, but they were in the game all right.
And Riding Skill levels were also put in the game several years ago, together with the 'second-level' mount (Borsloth?).
Thermadon Rex wings ARE required to get over the Crystal Hills.
And there are Weapons and Armor up to level 9.

At least on Jack's MI, it is. :)
Oh yes, he's the god...

A little comment about Titus Groan and Bad Company:

I wouldn't join a group until I'd met the right bunch of diabolically mad spear-chucking, head-hunting, jungle-snorting, excessively fiendishly adventurers. You know. The group that everyone else hates!

I would suggest that Richard got it right, everyone else just likes to whinge about it

Q & A:
1. How do you get the blurb to make a Xanxu construct.
-- You beg and plead for it, also a few occulars in bribes never hurt.
2. Is there another level after High Priest?
-- Why should you care? Without the Xanxu construct you can't make it anyway.
3. What happens if you LV an opposition temple?
-- Anyone who has tried this could tell you your going about this in the wrong way.
4. Can you reduce it back to temple ruins?
-- A temple CAN be reduced back to ruins. I suppose you and your 10-15 friends won't be doing much for the next year or so besides this.

Has Richard left the game? What a sod he turned out to be then. A few things that doesn't go his way and he leave!!! I mean, I had to pay to visit their temple, so did mark W. and all other Fuvites, the Dark would have to wade through BC members to get their temple, but we didn't quit, we are still here. I must admit that I had expected more of Richard, he was constantly complaining about not being able to find anyone he could fight, if the Dark got teleport he should be able to get a few figths with them.. Can't say I'm sorry to see him leave since he stabbed me in the back. Guess the rest of BC will run in different directions now, and get slaughtered by the Dark and SC.

Mark,

I'm so glad that you can view my site. I had you in mind when I wrote it and I removed every element that might have been the cause of your trouble.

Is there any possibility that you can send me a screenshot so I can see what it looks like on your computer?

I am sorry to see Richard Vine leave. He was very dedicated to the game. I think he should have been a little more patient and not quit so soon. I can see why KJC added temple ruins and I can see how it may benefit some players. However, I feel that they should have consulted the players and cope up with a more democratic solution. Who knows, Richard might have agreed to a compromise!

TMP,Jr/TMP:

I think the most important reason for Richard leaving was the new Temple Ruins in Zargnoth.

I think most players (like me) are thrilled with the new Dark Places and are looking forward to future updates. TMP and TMP, Jr, you have done a great job, without you there probably wouldn't be many Monsters left for 1999-2000. I considered dropping out after 6-7 years of playing, but stayed because of you folks! Thanks a lot!

JJR <Roenne@hotmail.com>
No town/city, No county/state, No country - 01:57:48 Tuesday 23 February 1999
I've got to say that seeing experienced players is something I hate to see, either in the US game or the KJC version. I'm sorry to hear that the placement of new dark places was a problem. TMP and I have worked very hard to overcome some serious limitations set upon us in the original program but I am happy to announce that, with the help of our new programmer, TMP, Ph.D., we have made a near miraculous break through. What it means for you is about 2-3 weeks of serious play testing and then the opening up of a whole new world. If I can blow my own horn, it'll remind you of the early days of MI when nearly everything was new. Too bad so many people will be missing out.
TMP, Jr. <tmpjunior@aol.com>

So Richard Vine quit? If this is true I cannot say I am surpised, although I do think it's a bit weird. Just because you are the oldest Group, should not mean you can get Teleport and prevent others from ever getting it (which he actually could not, but that is a different issue, hehe). The new ruins was a FAIR addition to the UK game as I see it, but then again I am shroudian, so I am probably biased.

As for the new Dark Places addition, how can he be angry with that!? I love it! Better than nothing!

Anyway, without Richard there must be a lot of Monsters who is ####ting in their pants right now...Tony, are you still in the game or are you joining Richard?

Hey Carbunkule,

I would do some work on my site but I screwed up my Win98 installation and left the installation disk on the other side of the country. I've had to revert to Win95 and as such, I only have access to one of my hard drives and my scanner won't function. As well as the Win95/AMD K6-2 300 problem and the fact that only one joystick will work, my computer is severly crippled! Updating web sites is not easy at the moment!

However, once I get everything working again, I'll give all my sites the attention that they deserve!

BTW. The web page does work under IE4. It's just that your settings are giving the page problems. The order of work is as follows and everything falls behind the commercial work that I have on at the moment.

If you place a God statue into a temple it counts as a tailsman, IF
Your the First to place it into a Temple of your relgion and the
statueis your relgion you get the guardian status..
Otherwise any other statue counts as a tailsman.. As do
the god swords... Never waste them in a swap put them in a

When a statue is placed to make you a guardian then it doesn't counnt as a Talisman. When something is prt of somehtng else then it won't count, just like when you sacrifice creatures to become a Guardoan, they doesn't count as kills.

Yeah, Mark is right, It's a talisman of any religion. Although there might be a fuvite that will exchange it for a statue of Kabuki, you never know. It could come in handy in the future.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your offers!
I thought about trading the statue for the Quartzlight Gem
or something else which makes light (me much fear of
darkness...), but I will bestow it to my local Kabuki Temple
(and I hope Mark Wingad is right).
May Kabuki do what he wants to with this heathen fetish...

Ups, I just realized I got it all wrong, you want a Kabuki-object right? I guess the White Lotus Leaf isn't what you are looking for then. Well, it just happens to be I am carrying the earlobe of an enemy of mine (don't worry, he won't need it anymore). Do you want to trade the Statue for this Kabuki-object then? I need an answer asap!

Anyone interested in a Wooden Fuvah Statue?
I found one and as devout Kabuki follower I have no use for
it. Of course I understand that you Fuvites out there would
not appreciate it, if I issued a PR order.
I'd like to exchange it for some nice Kabuki/Light-object or

When you ask questions then you might at least give your name (monster name will do just fine). As for your questions then

As Carbie said 200 AP's at a temple to remove the curse.

To use Lantern either the U-200 or just a sinple U-33 as this makes the Lantern kick in as well.

If you LV a Far post nothing at all happens, it just tells you that it is too tough and so you scram. However if you LV a Far Inn soething WILL happen, but I won't tell you what *wicked laugh*

So muscle does not appear to have an upper limit. Over a thousand and presumably still climbing. Move over arnie, the big boys are back in town.

One small question - Does muscle actually do anything except allow you to equip certain items (Eg Iron shields)?

if all monsters belive that BC is so fearfull and won`t
take a chance then they have won NOW. It`s more than possible
to remain in a state that no matter what BC could never actually
attack you.

Those darkies that fear BC your all daft, if i was another relgion
I`d let BC come for me and then after death xtract my revenge
a dead monster is powerful as a ghost. Only that my monsters dead
carn`t actually hurt BC, see you all look at it the wrong way,
A Ghost is nasty and Powerfull and BC can only teleport to you if
your close to a fuvah temple.. rember if your not near one the harder
for them to hunt you.

Well, Iron Machete, King's Spiked Shield + Gauntlets, Silver-plated armour and about 500 OC's??? A whole damn lot better than the crap I found, and still what I call some decent stuff, doesn't get better armour than King's Spiked (I got iron armour only). The only good stuff that beowulf had was a Curved Machete, and I didn't even pick that one up although horus had two small items slots left, strange.

Well, as for Midg wanting to kill your monsters because one is a BC member then you may claim that they are different monsters and all, but it just doesn't work that way. Call me a lousy roleplayer, but if it was me then I would nail all your monsters as well, since Berrl is a Darkie then why not just kill her when he kill your BC monster? If you had a member in the MLF and one in, say the SSS, then I would kill your SSS monster and leave your MLF monster. If you had a monster not in a group and you had a monster as a member of the SSS then I would kill both if I got the chance. Why? Why not? It's just how it works. Oh, and I doubt the BC will kill your Darkie monster.
